ASHA Consulting is jointly owned and managed by Jayson and Carol Orton. Jayson is the Principal Investigator on all projects while Carol assists with fieldwork and research.
Dr Jayson Orton: MA (UCT) & D.Phil (Oxford, UK) Archaeology
As an undergraduate Jayson also studied Environmental and Geographical Science which gave him a general background to the environmental sector. He has been working full time in the heritage sector since 2004 with a five-year apprenticeship before that. His work has included projects throughout the Western and Northern Cape provinces where he has encountered a wide range of heritage resources. (CV)
Carol Orton: BA in Fine Art (Rhodes), HDE (Rhodes) & Masters in Landscape Architecture – MLA (UCT)
Carol taught art for eight years before reading for the MLA. The MLA has provided Carol with the necessary skills for landscape analysis and she contributes observations on landscape character and visual impacts. Although not an archaeologist, Carol has also gained a basic understanding of local archaeology which enables her to provide survey and excavation assistance in this regard. (CV)
